Transport for London

TFL's digital signs are a major infrastructure project for London providing real-time bus information on screens all over the capital

The Project

Working as Head of Design for Aardvark London, I both assisted TFL’s design team with the concepts and developed the front end which plugged into an advanced CRM system. The signs had to be responsive to be shown on many sized monitors in landscape, portrait, widescreen etc. Also legibility and accessibility were important and had to be easily viewable in places like hospitals, shops and tube stations at various distances from the observer.

Since the initial test roll-out, TFL have deployed the signs to many locations around London.  The project won “Best New Technology” at the Transport Awards.
